I've started a campaign to get the NC State Legislature to pass a Life Begins At Conception bill during the 2015 session. Protecting human life is important, from the moment of conception to a person's last breath. Unfortunately, unborn children are not being afforded the protection they need and deserve. Doctors and scientists have known for over 150 years that from the moment of conception, a new human being has been created who is distinct and unique, and is definitely not a part of the mother's body. As early as 21 days after conception, the baby's heart has begun to beat, and at 40 days brain waves can be read on an EEG. Concerning the issue of "personhood", The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines a person as "A Human Being" - it doesn't get much simpler than that. I set up a simple web site (www.unbornpeople.com) to enable people around the state to easily contact their Representative, Senator, and the Governor about enacting & signing this bill into law this year during the long session. I've spoken to my church and friends and some have sent emails, but for this to really take off, it needs to be state-wide and not just concentrated in Carteret County. James 2:14-20 is my inspiration:
"14 What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? 15 Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, 16 and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? 17 So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless. 18 Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?"
