What does "Come as you are" mean regarding the Bible?
First, this is not a direct phrase taken from the Bible, but it is biblical. I will give two examples:
1) (Joel 2:32) states that Gods offer of deliverance is open to "whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord"
2) in (John 4:1-26) you will find the story of the woman at the well, living in sin, the sin was never excused or ignored, Jesus addressed the fact of it and offered her the salvation needed.
God expects us to leave our sin, but that is a PART of salvation, not something we can do on our own beforehand. I have heard plenty of people say they will start going to church when they get their life right. That is nothing more than an excuse. Come to Jesus, come as you are, and leave like you have never been before!
